It was opened on December 3, 2016 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Ruler of Dubai. The museum is located in Dubai's Knowledge Village at the Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation, which aims to provide visitors with a glimpse into the future through interactive exhibits and discussions on future technologies.

The museum has been designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, who were commissioned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who is also known as the founder of the museum.
2. Where is it located?
The museum is located on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard on Al Wasl Road in Jumeirah 2, Dubai. It’s just one block from The Dubai Mall and ten minutes from downtown Dubai by car or taxi. If you take public transport, you can take Metro Red Line from anywhere in Dubai to stop at Union Square Station, then take a taxi for around Dhs5-Dhs10 (AED13-25) depending on traffic conditions to get there.
