I. Identifying and channeling your burning desire
The book recommends identifying and then channeling your burning desire. We all have some hidden, burning desire waiting to be explored.
Normally, in our everyday lives, we just hope or merely wish for things to happen. For example, I wish to work in the RBI, or I hope to get selected as an officer this year.
But the question is, “How many of us actually have a burning, desperate desire to get through and to work in this prestigious organization?”
Now, the majority of employees who are working in banks, especially public sector banks, either have tried to clear the RBI Grade B exam or are trying to level up their career by getting into RBI.
But what if I ask them, “Are you willing to stay up late at night till 2 with me to prepare for the exam for the next two months despite your hectic schedule?
Only a few of them will seriously follow.
So, you see, the problem here is the channelization of that burning desire to sustain efforts for the long run.
Now, to channelize this burning desire, you need to bridge the gap between the conscious and subconscious mind.
This is not just true for working professionals but for anyone who has decided to prepare for the RBI Grade B exam.
II. Bridging the gap between conscious and subconscious mind
Success is a natural outcome when the conscious and subconscious mind work together to get a particular task done.
Now, the conscious mind is where all the thinking takes place. However, the subconscious is the main force behind our actions and behavior.
It is what you tell the conscious mind repeatedly and on a daily basis that gets embedded in the subconscious.
Let me give you an example.
When I ask my students, how many hours have you studied for the past 2–3 months?
Since it is a simple factual question, they’ll answer, with certainty, having studied 6 hours daily for the past few months. This is where your conscious mind comes into play.
But if I ask them another question, “Are you sure you will get through RBI this year?”
Majority of aspirants are often left with doubts. The answers are often like “I am giving my 100% but let’s see what happens” or “let’s see what the exam is like, if its too tough, I might not be able to get through”.
You see, in this instance, they have a doubt. They have a fear related to their chances of selection in this exam. And this is where your subconscious mind kicks in.
The trick lies in connecting the conscious and subconscious mind in such a way that your subconscious mind will say, “I will get through the exam this year.”
This belief is ultimately so strong that you become sure about clearing this exam.
And you shall eventually achieve it too.
III. Your dominant thought is where the answer lies!
The technique of self-suggestion has been mentioned in the book. It is a simple technique, but how exactly does it work?
There is a dominant thought in our conscious mind. And that thought can be anything—be it fear, doubt, or low self-confidence.
What you need to do is work on transforming negative beliefs like fear or doubt into positive ones like self-confidence.
Turn any negative self-belief into a positive one by repeatedly telling yourself empowering affirmations.
When you are ultimately able to achieve that, I can assure you that nothing can stop you from achieving your goals!
If we go back to the example of our college days, our desire to enjoy and experience fun was so strong that even if we got ourselves into trouble, it would make less difference as we would have fun nonetheless!
You see, we were so convinced to enjoy our lives to the fullest, that we left no stone unturned in doing so!
This level of self-belief and conviction is what you need to inculcate in your preparation for the RBI Grade B exam.
Advice to the aspirants
If you give yourself a daily dose of positivity in written as well as verbal form, then nobody can stop you from achieving your goals or clearing the exam.
This holds true whether I am talking about your goals for life or your short-term goals of clearing the RBI Grade B exam.
Whatever it is, when you make use of positive self-suggestion and bridge the gap between conscious and subconscious, you will definitely be successful and achieve your goals!
