Enabling Live Chat in Google Chat begins by clicking on install on Live Chat in the Google App Marketplace or you can go directly to your Spaces in your Google account either on Google Chat or on your Gmail.  The Live Chat app is easily integrated into any current or newly created space by going to that space and using the Add people & apps link.

You can also just click the ‘+’ button right beside the message field to add an application as the following picture shows.

2.  Sign in and get to know how to manage features of the Live Chat service.

Second, you will be able to go to your Live Chat account at Social Intents, where you are able to set many features of your chat widget.  In case you’ve integrated the Live Chat app in a space, you’ve automatically become a member of our community here.  All you have to do is click on ‘Sign in with Google’ and use the same email, in which you’ve installed the live chat app.

After you login into Social Intents, they present you with the Dashboard of the site.  To access your settings, choose the My Apps tab at the left hand side of your screen and go on the edit settings option for Live Chat.  You may alter the destination in which chats are directed, alter the colour of the tab section, integrate with AI as part of your live chat, or establish third-party relationships.

You also have access to Live Chat reports and the configurations you can set up here to automatically send chat transcripts and leads to your CRM/marketing/ticketing platforms.

3.  Preview your Live Chat Widget

You can test your Live Chat app as it is integrated with Google Chat instantly using the Preview Chat url.  You can also use this link, and other related options, if you type /livechat.  You will find a list of slash commands below.  All you have to do is type /livechat_preview.

We will forward an email with your preview link that will contain a preview chat widget and the HTML code to integrate on your site.

When you choose your preview link you will see the current chat widget alongside what it will appear like on your website.  This chat widget, you may further adjust in the chat settings.

This simply means that when you click on start chat, this is going to send a live chat request into your Google space with the details of the visitor.

There are two options to join the chat: join chat and join as a direct message.  We'll explain these below.

To post a message and join the chat in this space, use the Join Chat button below.   For your convenience, we will start a new thread for each live chat session so that you can conduct numerous discussions concurrently.  

To address the visitor you just click to a topic and then to reply start it with @Live Chat to send a message back to the website visitor.  Your visitor will be able to view the messages right in the chat widget on your website.

Again, to exit the chat from Google Chat, in the active thread type /livechat_end in the conversation.

Join as DM

You would also be able to chat alternatively, enter the conversation into a direct message and take the chat to DM’s.  In this case, there is no need to mention the @Live Chat bot in every reply but at the same time, you will be able to chat only with one user at the time since this method is realised in a one thread – your direct messages.

Make sure that, if you wish to chat specifically Live Chat with rather than in a chat zone, that you include Live Chat in the chat area.   To add Live Chat to your DM’s go to chat at the left side clicking on it, then type New chat in the box, go again to Find Apps and type ‘Live Chat’.

4.  Implement your Live Chat for Google Chat to your website

Last but not least, you can start your Live Chat by using the code snippet for your live chat right on your website template/ theme.You are able to download your code from the My Apps page in Social Intents, and you can also type in the slash command /livechat_code right in Google chat.n the @Live Chat bot in each response, but you will only be able to chat with one website visitor at a time since this method is in a single thread (your direct messages).

Make sure to add Live Chat to your chat area if you want to chat directly with Live Chat versus within a space. To add Live Chat to your DM's, just click on Chat in the left side bar, type New chat, then Find Apps and search on 'Live Chat'.

4.  Embed your Live Chat for Google Chat in your website

Finally, you can enable your Live Chat widget on your website by embedding the code snippet for your live chat right into your website template or theme.

You can access your code from the My Apps section in Social Intents, or by sending the slash command /livechat_code right within Google  Chat.

All that is required is the pasting of this code snippet before the final tag in the template for the website.
