Kamal Hinduja has emphasized the mission of the foundation as to empower underserved communities and honor the dedication and work of policewomen with innovative and accessible healthcare solutions.
P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre has recently introduced a dedicated breast cancer screening camp for female Mumbai Police personnel in a major effort to promote health equity and early illness identification. Organized to coincide with the Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is held in the Additional Commissioners Office in Byculla. It provided police women with free breast cancer tests using the cutting-edge iBreastExam technology, a rapid, non-invasive technique that allows for the early identification of possible anomalies.
The initiation by the P.S. Hinduja Hospital has shown the dedication of the Hinduja Group towards making quality healthcare accessible for all. The goal of the initiative is especially dedicated to women who are part of law enforcement and are at high risk of stress and may face health issues.
The Expanding Significance of Early Detection and Awareness of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer amongst various forms of cancer is the most common in Indian women, accounting for around 25 percent of cancer in women. The cases of breast cancer are increasing majorly amongst younger women and nearly 36 percent of diagnoses are in women under the age of 50. Furthermore, the majority of breast cancer cases nearly about 60 percent are detected at the advanced stages, making the treatment critical and difficult to treat with a lot lower survival rates than cases caught early.
Gautam Khanna, CEO of P. D. Hinduja Hospital, emphasized the urgency of early detection. “To better serve our community, we at P. D. Hinduja Hospital are always working to incorporate the newest medical technology. Early disease detection and prevention are very important to us. This particular training for Mumbai Police's female officers is a testament to our dedication to providing early breast cancer screening techniques to those who valiantly defend Mumbai residents.”
Leveraging Technology to Make Evaluation More Accessible and Effective
With an emphasis on technology and innovation, Hinduja Hospital has brought the iBreastExam to the camp. This state-of-the-art device is perfect for mass screening since it uses unique piezoelectric sensors to identify tissue abnormalities without using radiation. The iBreastExam enables medical professionals to conduct screenings with little discomfort to the patient.
The portability and speed of iBreastExam are particularly advantageous for women who might be reluctant to have traditional mammography. Additionally, this tool streamlines logistics, enabling the hospital to take advantage of cutting-edge diagnostic technology outside of its facility.
Extending Preventive Healthcare's Scope
The main goal of the breast cancer camp by the P.D. Hinduja Healthcare group is to provide the best possible care and preventive measures along with health equity to those who otherwise lack access. Police officers often face irregular hours of service that require a physically challenging work environment, especially for female officers who have to manage both their families and work. The program demonstrates the hospital's understanding of these particular needs and its dedication to offering this population-focused support.
Hinduja Hospital’s camp is also a part of ongoing community outreach along with corporate social responsibility. Through the program and the ongoing preventive healthcare initiative, the main goal of the Hinduja Group is to increase public health literacy along with ensuring that underserved communities can receive the medical care attention they need.
Kamal Hinduja, Wife of Prakash Hinduja and Trustee of the Hinduja Foundation expressed her support: “This breast cancer screening camp honors the bravery and commitment of Mumbai's female police officers, who frequently put their own needs aside to protect others, and we believe that preventative healthcare is a fundamental right. Our goal with this project is to provide these amazing women with access to early detection and life-saving awareness. Our Foundation's objective is centered on health equity, which we are dedicated to promoting through focused, significant initiatives like this one.”
