Special-shaped seamless steel pipe: It is a general term for seamless steel pipes with other cross-sectional shapes other than round pipes. Its cross-sectional shapes are diverse, including but not limited to square, rectangular, elliptical, hexagonal, etc. The inner and outer surfaces of this steel pipe are smooth, without obvious seams, which increases the pressure resistance of the pipe.

Round pipe: As the name suggests, its cross-sectional shape is round, which is one of the common types of steel pipes.

Performance characteristics

1.Bending and torsion resistance

Special-shaped seamless steel pipe: Due to its large moment of inertia and section modulus, it usually has stronger bending and torsion resistance. This characteristic makes special-shaped seamless steel pipes perform better when subjected to complex loads.

Round pipe: Although it also has certain bending and torsion resistance, compared with special-shaped seamless steel pipes, its bending and torsion resistance may be weaker under the same cross-sectional area.

2.Structural weight

Special-shaped seamless steel pipe: Under the same load, special-shaped seamless steel pipes can usually greatly reduce the weight of the structure, thereby saving steel.

Round tube: It may not be as optimized as special-shaped seamless steel pipe in terms of structural weight.

Whether it is special-shaped seamless steel pipe or round tube, its manufacturing process ensures high geometric accuracy and uniformity. But the diversified cross-sectional shapes of special-shaped seamless steel pipes may put higher requirements on its manufacturing process.
