Maintenance, Management And Use Of Drill Pipes

When transporting drill pipes by load-carrying vehicles, the following regulations should be observed
1. The drill rod must be placed on a long pillow and tied with a rope.
2. When loading, the male or female joints of the drill rod should be installed at both ends of the vehicle respectively, and the male and female joints should not be mixed together.
3. In order to prevent friction damage to the shoulders of adjacent joints, isolation measures must be taken to wrap the joints.
4. After a short period of transportation, the vehicle should be stopped for inspection and the rope should be re-tightened.
When transporting drill rods by ship, the following regulations should be observed
1. When transporting drill rods by ship, the male and female joints must be protected with wire guards.
2. The drill rod is placed on the sleepers. The sleepers are spaced about 3 meters apart, and the sleepers need to be padded to the same level.
3. Small wooden boards need to be laid on each layer of drill rods as intervals. The wooden boards, decks, and sleepers need to be on the same vertical plane.
4. Each layer of drill rods should be blocked. All drill rods need to be tied with wire ropes and have a certain tension.
When loading and unloading drill rods, the following items should be observed
1. Before unloading the drill rod, make sure the thread guard is intact and tightened.
2. Avoid rough loading and unloading, as this may cause the drill rod to fall into a pit.
3. Do not drop the drill rod when unloading it, and do not let the ends of the drill rod collide, because even with a thread guard, the thread may be damaged.
4. The unloaded drill rods must be neatly stacked together.
When storing drill rods, the following regulations should be observed
1. Drill rods are not allowed to be stacked directly on the ground, rails, steel plates or concrete surfaces. The first layer of drill rods must be more than 30 cm from the ground to prevent moisture and soil rust.
2. Drill rods should be stored on pipe racks, and the pipe racks should have enough piers to prevent the drill rods from bending and damaging the threads. The piers should be on the same plane and horizontal, and the pier feet should be solid to prevent sinking.
3. There should be isolation pads between each layer of drill rods, and the drill rod joints should not bear the weight of the drill rods. There should be at least three isolation pads on each layer of drill rods.
4. The isolation pads should be at right angles to the drill pipe and located directly above the lower pads to ensure that the drill pipe does not bend.
5. The length difference of each layer of drill pipe should not exceed the length of the joint or coupling.
6. The two sides of each layer of drill pipe should be clamped with 2.5×5.0 cm or 5.0×5.0 cm plugs at both ends of the pads.
7. The water holes and male and female threads of the drill pipe must be cleaned with clean water, coated with anti-rust oil, and the thread protector must be worn.
8. The rubber protective hoop on the drill pipe should be removed during storage, otherwise it will cause annular corrosion grooves on the drill pipe body.
9. In order to inhibit the corrosion of the drill pipe, the drill pipe should be regularly inspected with the naked eye during the storage period, and the surface and inner wall of the drill pipe should be anti-corrosive.
The bent drill pipe must be straightened before use.
After the straightening of the drill pipe, the axis of the pipe body is required to coincide with the center line of the joint thread. There are currently three methods for straightening drill pipes, namely pressure straightening, tension straightening and rotation straightening. All of these straightening methods will cause plastic deformation of the drill pipe. The straightened drill pipe is more susceptible to bending at its straightened position than before.
