LearningChain is an online platform for educational institutions to issue tamper proof and instantly verifiable digital certificates based on Blockchain Technology.
A BlockChain is a digital ledger of transactions maintained by a network of computers in a way that makes it difficult to hack or alter.
The growing list of records, called blocks, is linked together using cryptography. Each transaction is independently verified by peer-to-peer computer networks, time-stamped and added to a growing chain of data. Once recorded, the data cannot be altered.
While issuing certificates, sharing academic reports and in verification process there may be high chances of fraudulent activities, creating fake certificates, delays in certificate verification process resulting in damage to institute brand, student future and loss of time.
LC helps institutions to issue BlockChain based digital certificates which are immutable and cannot be forged, also it can be instantly verifiable worldwide eradicating fake certificate system.
How does Blockchain make my documents tamper proof?
As the data is not stored in single server, it’s highly impossible to get consent from all nodes in BlockChain to tamper with data.
Institution admin will upload scanned copies of certificates in PDF format in their LearningChain portal, system will create a unique Hash value for the data and recorded into a unique QR Code, by scanning LC generated QR code, verifier will be able to get content of the original document and cross check it with the submitted document.
When user scans the QR code, it should allow the user to access information instantly – hence why it’s called a Quick Response code. QR code technology has no type of security flaws, and one cannot hack it.
Security concerns are with the stored data on QR code when a user scans it.
In a Normal QR Code, the security risks that people often associate with, do not origin from QR code technology instead from the final destination (URL Page, information stored, records) of each code, third parties might hack the web page, link up malicious software, or steal data, there remains a risk that the data in the QR codes can get manipulated.
Whereas In Blockchain based QR Code at the time of generation of the QR code, the system puts a unique hash value into the QR code, when the user scans the QR code to access the information or data, the system first cross-checks the hash value in the QR code. It compares the hash value of the QR code to the hash value of the BlockChain. If it matches, only then can the user access it. It makes the entire system incorruptible, immutable. The fact is once there is a hash value in the QR codes, nobody can even touch it.
