All about Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg

Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg aims to stimulate socio-economic development by bringing in both local and global investments while also providing a variety of employment opportunities for individuals living in the corridor area. The proposal comprises a super communication motorway that will take just eight hours to connect Mumbai and Nagpur.
Currently, the journey from Mumbai to Nagpur, which is more than 800 miles away, takes between 14 and 15 hours. A super communication expressway known as the Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, which is anticipated to be completed by the end of next year, will reduce this distance to 700 km and the travel time by over 50%. This indicates that travelers will soon be able to travel in under eight hours from Mumbai to Nagpur! In addition to this, ten districts in Maharashtra would be connected by the expressway, including Thane, Nashik, Ahmadnagar, Aurangabad, Jalna, Buldhana, Washim, Amravati, Wardha, and Nagpur.

Present status of Maharashtra Samrudhi Mahamarg
The expressway connecting Mumbai and Nagpur will open in stages. After a section of a wildlife overpass on the route was damaged, the first phase, which was scheduled to begin on May 2, 2022, was delayed. The wildlife bridge, which was built 15 kilometers from Nagpur, was designed to ease the migration of wildlife.
Between Nagpur and Shelu Bazaar in the Washim district, the first phase of Samruddhi Mahamarg will be 210 km long; the operating date has not yet been determined. On August 15, 2022, the second section from Shelu Bazaar to Shirdi will be inaugurated. The final section of the Samruddhi highway connecting Shirdi and Mumbai may open in the middle of 2023.
