Until you achieve good results, evert step seems impossible. NEET is one of the most prestigious exams to crack without a robust strategy. Many people assume that only the toppers and brilliant students can crack NEET whereas that is completely a wrong notion. Any aspirant with clear vision and goal can crack this exam easily. Consistent dedication paired with hard work and effort can help you to crack the exam. 

However, there are several silly and common mistakes committed by the aspirants during the NEET preparation that can distract you from the actual goal.
 
Basic mistakes:

  • Not starting with basics: A strong foundation of the basics is essential to build the concepts of the complex topics. Gaining success in NEET is not easy without understanding the fundamental concepts of all the three subjects. Just thorough memorization and covering topics from the upper surface will not help you crack NEET. So, make sure that you get your basics cleared.
  • Never keep anything for tomorrow: Not completing the syllabus and targeted sections during your preparation is common as aspirants tends to push their to-do lists to tomorrow. So, don’t push anything as you are aware what consequences you will face later. Set proper timers, daily goal planners, and monitor your progress daily.
  • Avoid multitasking: When you are studying, focus only on it. Avoid any type of social media interactions or getting engaged in playful activities as it they hamper your concentration. While studying, make sure that you have a proper environment, a good posture and avoid any kind of procrastinations.
  • Don’t refer to too many resources: One of the major common mistake that the students make is by referring to multiple books and study materials with the fear of not missing any vital piece of information. As a result of which they study from various books, ignoring the fundamental and primary NCERT. Gaining knowledge from multiple resources can build up confusion regarding many topics. So, give up the practice of studying from multiple books and master your NCERT.
  • Set equal priority on all the three subjects: Students generally tend to pay attention to either biology or physics and chemistry. It should be kept in mind that a good mark from all the three sections decides your score and rank. Strategizing to master any one while leaving behind other subjects cannot help you crack NEET with an excellent score.
  • Know the impact of negative marking: Many people for the sake of attempting more number of questions, bubble wrong OMR responses and as a result of which they lose many marks. If you are accustomed with the series of mock tests, you will know how marking 5 wrong answers can affect your overall score and rank. Keep in mind, that one negative mark can cause a difference of thousand ranks.
  • Last Minute tasks: Many students focus on completing new chapters and portions daily leaving behind regular revision. As a result of which when the exam approaches, they start panicking seeing the number of chapters they are left to revise. So, it is advisable that you revise everything on an alternate day basis so that you keep the memory and concepts fresh.
  • No proper schedule and planning: Create a strategic study planner that will help you monitor your progress and cover everything with equal concentration. Studying without a well-structured time table can leave you demotivated and lose your track.
  • Avoid studying for long: Not taking small breaks during long study hours can cause stress, anxiety and frustration among the aspirants. During the preparation phase, many students tend to stop spending time with their friends and family in order to complete their vast NEET syllabus. However, this will cause fatigue very soon and thereby will hinder your overall performance.
  • Learning from mock tests: Giving mock tests according to the latest syllabus will help the students to track their performance analysis. Learning from the mistakes will help them to identify their strong and weak areas. Moreover, students can track their time management efficiency which will help them to perform better during their main exam.
